People must have some spirit. Also, a nation needs its own national spirit. Asfor a country, its spirit is crucial to lead its development, to manifest its nationalwillpower, and to promote its national unity. Nowadays, in the great process which thewhole country’s striving to realize the “Chinese Dream”, fostering and carryingforward Chinese Spirit is necessary for realizing the “Chinese Dream” by providingvalue guidance, spiritual power and style demonstration.This paper contains five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction part, it mainlyintroduces this paper’s background, significance, research idea and approaches, etc.The second chapter is to distinguish the concepts of Chinese Spirit, national spirit andtimes spirit, attempting to define Chinese Spirit in a scientific way. Chapter threedescribes the content and features of the Chinese Spirit. On the aspect of content,“Chinese Spirit” is the concentration of the excellent Chinese nation culture, whichalso is the convergence of the socialist core values, and the full display of Chinesespiritual outlook. As for the features, this chapter explains them related to the featuresof country, nation, people, times and demonstration. In chapter four, the author arguesthat the realization of “Chinese Dream” needs fostering and carrying forward ofChinese Spirit, including uniting the Chinese people, showing our value demands andspiritual outlook. The last chapter analyzes the approaches to foster and carry forwardChinese Spirit, the author thinks that it should be contained into the nationaleducation program and into the overall plan of spiritual civilization building.
