Since the1990s, the focus of international relations changes from "senior political" to"low politics". Comprehensive national strength in which economic and technology play adecisive role began to become the dominant factor in international relations. In suchbackground, economic diplomacy emerged. In an era of rapid development of economicglobalization, countries attach importance to the development of the national economy bymeans of economic globalization. More and more countries use economic diplomacy to seekeconomic benefits,at the same time, also to pursue national interests by economic means.Both India and China are big developing countries and fastest growing economic entity inthe world economy. India and China both belong to the "BRICS". India carries out economicdiplomacy in Africa to obtain economic interests and to seek political power status. Africa isChina’s important strategic partner, and occupies an important position in China’s strategicinterest level, political and security level, the level of economic interests. Therefore, the studyof Chinese and Indian economic diplomacy towards African countries is of great practicalsignificance for China’s African foreign policy decisions.This paper is divided into six parts, the first part is an introduction, describes thesignificance, methodology and literature review. The second part describes the meaning ofeconomic diplomacy, type and basic theory. The third part conducts a comparative analysis ofthe Chinese and Indian economic diplomacy in Africa background and motivation. The fourthpart analyzes the Chinese and Indian economic diplomacy in Africa content and features. Thefifth part evaluates the Chinese and Indian economic diplomacy in Africa, and describes theproblems they face. The sixth part describes the Implications of India’s economic diplomacyin Africa, as well as how to respond from China’s point of view. Through research, the paperargues, first, India and Africa have a long-term economic partnership, has deep historical andrealistic basis for economic cooperation, China’s achievements in Africa is leading India;Secondly, broad areas of China-Africa Cooperation, China in Africa achievements in the fieldof infrastructure construction, manufacturing capacity building, energy development and otherprominent areas of Africa and India in the IT industry, medicine, human resources trainingslightly better. India on non-economic diplomacy are complementary, the two sides carriedout on non-economic diplomacy, to benefit the non-India tripartite economic development andsocial progress; Third, economic diplomacy in Africa and India a competitive side, but alsoface common challenges and opportunities, cooperation and win-win cooperation before thegame should be the right choice.
