The economic relations between China and South Africa have been established for a long time. In 1998 Jan 1st, the two countries established foreign ties and bilateral economic relations have made a huge progress since then. As South Africa is an important country both in politics and economy, the academy also pay great attention to Sino-SA economic relations. The driving forces of the rapid growth of bilateral economic relations are as follows. First of all, there's good political foundation between China and SA, and the politics and the economy can help each other forward, as well as the complementation between two countries'economy, all these are the objective factors of driving forces. Secondly, from the perspective of respect national interests, China has a demand in SA's recourses, market and African market. As for South Africa, it also needs China in technology and politics so as to not deeply rely on western countries. The development of economic relations between China and SA has brought benefit for both countries'economy, politics and international status. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, there has been a win-win situation in bilateral economy and an outstanding example in South-South Cooperation in developing countries. For South Africa's big influence and discourse power in Africa, the development of the bilateral economy can also help the confutation of"Neocolonialism"which western countries posed on China. Meanwhile, there are also some disadvantages in the growth of bilateral economic relations, such like the imbalances in bilateral trade, the unfamiliarity of Chinese cooperation to SA and the competition of western countries.
