The financial regulatory system of U.S. has been imitated by many countries, theoutbreak of the U.S. subprime mortgage crisis and many financial holding companieshave been acquired or bankruptcy, triggering the Asian countries to reflect the UnitedStates and the country’s financial regulatory system and regulatory philosophy. Aboutthe root cause of the financial crisis, There are many different views. But there is nodenying that the financial regulatory system is not perfect, and the lack of governmentsupervision on financial holding company is the result of the financial crisis. That isan important and direct factor. Firstly, this thesis introduces the concept of financialholding companies, classification, and the difference between other financialinstitutions and financial holding companies.
