Based on the value orientation of human freedom and liberation,Marx discusses thelogic of historical development about community from practical persons and practicalactivities, reveals the foundation and essence of real community,pointing out only inreal community,that is to say in community, can people get thorough freedom andliberation.The thought of community is an important part of Marx’s theory,which goesthrough Marx’s historical materialism and embodies the unity of Marx’s scientificview of the world,the history and the value. Studying the thought of the community isgood to the scientific analysis of various theory of illusion on non Marx communityand contributes to a deeper understanding of historical materialism and a correctunderstanding of the nature of the reality of history.This dissertation has discussed Max’s ideas on commonwealth. There were severalcommonwealths before the age of Max. Some people has examined thecommonwealth and found the desirable one. Max’s ideas on commonwealth wereinfluenced by it. As the rapidly development of capital industry, Max has deeplyperceived the existence condition of humankind and at the time reflected on theupheaval brought about by mechanized large-scale production of capitalism. At thesame time he was illuminated by his contemporary thinkers and hit his own ideas oncommonwealth. This has mainly presented in several canons of Max, especially inThe Communist Manifesto such ideas became matured. By inquisition of human’shistory,Max has divided the communities that ever existed into three:primevalcommunity——substance dependence, imaginary community——people dependenceand the real community——commonwealth free man.By examined the ownership ofproperties and the classification of classes, Max has analyzed the relation betweenhuman and community, human’s existence condition among the above-mentionedcommunities. He has concluded that only in the commonwealth free man couldhuman’s nature be realized. Max’s idea on community is of great value to thedevelopment of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
