Faith is person’s behavior guide and when we making a value judgment we needto ask our own conscience.A variety of social ills of contemporary China hasfrequented, but Chinese people was showing a " pan-faith " mentality. Thus, in thereality of our life,it is necessary to build a set of uniform value. Introduction ofreligion is the the best way to integrate each person of faith, but because most ofChinese people are atheists, so this article attempts to elaborate the system ofRousseau’s citizens religious thought in order to inspire contemporary life.The article asks Rousseau freedom to start, and through the freedom of threestages (natural freedom, social freedom, moral freedom) exposition, Rousseaubelieves true freedom requires the freedom to rise to the third stage which is moralfreedom. To achieve true freedom, we need to build community to guarantee therealization of the moral freedom, and in the moral community civil religion plays animportant role. It is the reason of civil religion proposed. Chapter IV of the articlewill around several representative significance values: fraternity, equality, freedom,responsibility, and tolerance to discuss the meaning of Rousseau’s civil religion. Thelast part is a comprehensive assessment of Rousseau’s citizens religious.BecauseRousseau did not propose a complete theory of citizens religious, so the plight ofRousseau’s citizens religious is that the freedom of Rousseau’s ideal is disengaged ormandatory. Bella is the originator of study the American civil religion, Rousseau’scivil religion has a great influence on American civil religion, but also is veryhelpful on the revival of Confucianism in China.This paper concludes with a strong Forced color of Rousseau freedom ideal, butif we according to Rousseau opinion that only moral freedom can achieve realfreedom and reflect the conscience.so I think Rousseau ideological content is that themandatory freedom is the real freedom. Citizens religious ideas of Rousseau believesthat every member of the community to actively participate in society can reflect theircivic responsibility, so Rousseau’s idea has great reference on our country’s civilreligion collective consciousness, civic engagement and citizenship.
