People with ability are the pillar of the development of one country’s economyand society, and intellectuals are the main source for people with ability. These twogroups of people are crossover each other. As to the serviceability of knowledge’svalue, intellectuals are people with ability. In the time of knowledge economy,knowledge and intellectuals who are the carrier of knowledge are playing more andmore essential role in our society. Knowledge becomes the key elements to decidethe transformation of power. As a consequence, in the period of social transformation,strengthening the ideology and political education for intellectuals is vital to makeinstruct and attract more intellectuals to CPC and implement the strategy of makingnation more powerful by people with ability.During the initial years of PRC, in order to develop economy and consolidatethe political power of CPC, it is critical for CPC to attract more intellectuals. Theirliving form of closing to governing force made them the focus of social conflicts.The ideological and political education to intellectuals by CPC concentrated onreconstructing of their world view, in order to help them set up the view of class andthe position of proletarian and serve the nation better. Intellectuals are the group withindependent thought and understanding to social development, who stick to the right of dependent thought and comment in their fields. It is the embodiment of their socialvalue, which is distinctly different from the other groups. In the initial states of PRC,the process of dealing with the relationship between intellectuals and CPC, CPC wasused to analyze and solve the issue from political aspects, which did not put theintellectuals on the position of nation’s master. In the process of reconstructingideology, CPC put more attention to intellectuals’ ideological and political quality,resulting in neglecting intellectuals’ knowledge value. In the process of encouragingpeople to rebuilding intellectuals’ ideology, CPC did not instruct people’s senseproperly, and people did numerous irrational activities to intellectuals. The problemsmade CPC not give scientific views to intellectuals in enforcing the policy of“solidarity, education and reconstruction”. To make the affect of ideological andpolitical education simple and absolute hurt intellectuals and left historical problems,and the consequences are the intellectuals’ obedience to society and thedisappearance of intellectual class.In the initial stages of PRC, the work of intellectuals’ ideological and politicaleducation has made great achievements and educated lots of people with ability tonation’s construction. However, the mistakes and historical tragedies make us toreflect the approach of intellectuals’ ideological and political education. In the newtimes, our nation should put more attention to intellectuals and concentrate on thepolicy of strengthening nation’s power by intellectuals, and the work of intellectuals’ideological and political education is developed under this goal. The time is changingand the work of intellectuals’ ideological and political education should keep stepswith the time. From the history, we can gain some useful experience and avoid therisks of development. To begin with, trust is the best respect to people with ability.We should measure the value of intellectuals scientifically, guide people’s powerrationally, affirm the value of intellectuals in the society and rebuilt intellectuals’value in the process of socialism construction. Secondly, we should plan the group ofintellectuals as a whole, emphasize the value of intellectuals’ value and not neglectthe education of intellectuals’ world view in order to improve their knowledge onCPC and morality. Thirdly, the reasonable mechanism of intellectuals’ job changing should be set up. And intellectuals should have more space to speak and think freelyand independently. In order to better use their value, the creativity should becultivated by the intellectuals. Finally, intellectuals should set up proletariat worldview and study problems from life and serve the people and our nation better.
