The Reshaping Of The Nation-state Under The Background Of Globalization

Globalization as an objective process, had swept all aspects of human life. Globalization is a fact of human life to break the boundaries of the nation-states in a global scale, this will inevitably bring challenges to the nation-state. Under the background of the era of globalization, nation-state whether there exists the necessity and possibility? If the necessity and possibility of the existence of the nation-state as well, that should be what kind of form? Under the background of globalization, how the future fate of the nation-state? Undoubtedly these are the most urgent problems in front of humanity today.This article tries to stand on the position of Marxist historical materialism, combined with new features in the modern era of globalization, given my answers to those problems. On the basis of the analysis about the two concepts-"globalization" and "the nation-state", from national sovereignty, state functions and national identity three aspects to analyze the impact and challenges brought by globalization to the nation-state. And then demonstrated the existence of the nation-state in the rationality in the era of globalization, respectively from national sovereignty, state functions and national identity three aspects to reshape the nation-state in the age of globalization, the specific content that is limited national sovereignty, openness of state functions, inclusive national identity. Finally, combining with the particularity of China’s reality, put forward some ideas and suggestions of contemporary Chinese national development and construction.
