In July and August of1937,the Lugou Bridge Incident and the"August13thIncident"broke out in succession.The Sino-Japanese national contradictions hasbecome the principal contradiction in Chinese society,and to against the Japaneseimperialist aggression became the entire Chinese nation’s top priority.In this contextof the times,the anti-Japanese base,Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei was opened up andestablished.In the environment of the long-run eight years of behind-enemy war lines,to effectively build and consolidate the anti-Japanese base areas,to consolidate andexpand the anti-Japanese national united front,it couldn’t be done without theawakening and support of the farmers,which occupied more than80%of thepopulation.Furthermore,the ideological base of the peasant masses and the level ofpolitical consciousness and level of scientific,cultural and moral status,would directlyinfluence the result wether we could obtain the final success of the war or not.How toovercome the limitations of the peasant class itself,how to improve the quality offarmers to elaborate the peasant class war enthusiasm,and how to strengthen durableresistance forces behind enemy lines,were the most important and urgent problemsplaced in front of the Chinese Communist Party’s.In a brutal fight situation,the Chinese Communist Party chose to carry outmainly the winter school education for farmers’ideological and political educationwork.Specifically,the Chinese Communist Party,based on the state’s and nationalinterests and farmers’ production and living needs,closely related to the central task ofthe war,carried out a wide range of political mobilization for farmers according toregion,time and location,and then using eliminating illiteracy as a starting point,carried out a massive winter school education,including war education,childbirtheducation,democracy education,cultural education and moral education.Meanwhile, about how to carry out ideological and political education of farmers,the party havealso been proven exploration and practice as well,adopting example method,materialincentives method,influence education method and other infections flexible approach,making ideological and political work have a strong fighting force and vitality,ensuring one victory after another during the war.Party’s peasants ideological and political education gained remarkable results,such as the peasant masses’awareness of war and democracy was strengthened,theenthusiasm for production and cultural standards was improved,to some extent,thesocial atmosphere was improved,base areas and the anti-Japanese national unitedfront was also consolidated and expanded,and a large number of officers with bothability and moral integrit were trained,the party’s principles and policies have beenimplemented.In short,the party’s farmer education work has not only unified the broadmasses of peasants thought and action which enhanced their understanding of theworld and the ability to change the world,but also strengthened the base of social,political,economic,military,cultural,educational and party building,so that we won thefinal victory of the Anti Japanese War.Meanwhile,due to various reasons,farmereducation inevitably has its limitations of the times.At this stage,to solve the "three rural"issues and promote the new socialistcountryside construction,firstly,we must strengthen the construction of ruralgrassroots party organizations,secondly,we should attache great importance to solvethe practical problems of farmers,thirdly,we should improve the quality of farmers,finaly,we should adopt flexible and diverse approaches to educate farmers,andcombine ideological education in cultural activities,Deepening the education offarmers and cohesion of the Party and the people.
