China is a unified multi-ethnic socialist country, all ethnic groups has made tremendous efforts andcontributions for revitalization of Chinese Nation for a long time. In New era, with the increasingcomplexity of ethnic relations at home and abroad and the process of China’s urbanization’s speeding up,ethnic unity education is playing an important role in maintaining national unity and promoting socialstability.There are56ethnic groups in Henan Province. It had adopted a series of measures in terms of nationalunity Education since the reform and opening up, and achieved remarkable results. However, with thegrowing minority population mobility, communication and inter-ethnic friction gradually has beenincreased in recent years, and the impact of national unity factors and events was on the rise, whichadvanced new demands in education of national unity. At the same time, globalization and fastdevelopment of network information made new opportunities and challenges for national unity education.As the country’s largest minority scattered and mixed provinces, strengthening national unity and educationhas become a very important task for Henan Province.This paper adopted literature, field survey and case study analysis to study problems in thedevelopment process of the national unity education in Henan Province since reform and opening-up, andput forward its own points countermeasures after rational thinking. There are five parts in the thesis.The first part is an introduction. It introduces the background and significance of this subject, status ofacademic research, research methods and research papers.The second part makes an overview of the national unity education in Henan Province since reformand opening-up. On the basis of defining national unity and the concept of national unity, it traced thecourse of development of Henan Education.The third part describes the background to strength the national unity, combined with practicality ofHenan Province, it expatiated the necessity of strengthening national unity education on the basis of typicalcase analysis. The fourth part analyzed the lack of ethnic unity education in Henan Province since reform andopening-up. And try to find the root cause of the problem respectively from family education, schooleducation and social education.The fifth part makes a rational thinking of the national unity Education of Henan. According to theissues of ethnic unity education which need to be addressed, it proposed counter measures and suggestionsto strengthen national unity education of Henan.Based on the study results of previous studies and related information, this paper analyzed theproblems existed in national unity education, and make a deep thought about the development of education,so that it could promote the development of education Scattered Regions of national unity, maintainnational unity and advance social stability.
