The United States has a large Irish population.Since the partition of the Northand South of Ireland, Irish-Americans have been paying high attention to the NorthernIreland problem. While turmoil of Ulster upgraded in the70s of the20-century,theBritish grovernment had opened Anglo-Irish negotlations and dialogues betweenfactions of Northern Ireland for seeking peaceful solutions to the conflict, whichinitiated the Northern Ireland peace process.Irish Americans also showed theirconcerns to the process since it’s closely related to the sovereignty of NorthernIreland and the future of their compatriots. During the advance of process, Irish-americans who standing different positions gave it diversified influence,some eveninvolved them in it through various channels and means. At the same time, their ownattitude also experienced important changes. This article found that difference in waysof influencing and changing attitudes of the Irish americans lead to different or evenopposite effects upon the the implementation of legal peace in Northern Ireland andthe consolidation of peace. Through innovative perspective and analysis ofhierarchy,the paper have presented activities and means of irish americans in differentlevel and with contrary attitude during the process.Further more,the paper alsodiscussed the complex of political awareness and divergence inside the population ofirish americans to find out the motivations and reasons that drove this ethninc groupto affecting the process. Finally,with a comparative analysis and in-depth evaluationtoward effects upon the process from different factions of Irish americans or variousmeans of influence,we can draw a conclusion for this topic,in which will also providesome Suggestions and reference on how to guide the overseas migrants exert positiveeffect on home country political relations.
