United States withdrawaledfrom the Philippines and reduced aid to she.In the period of President Ramos,hestrengthened the political ties with Taiwan to obtain the huge investments.BesidesPhilippines began to strengthen the sovereignty of the South China Sea.And becauseof the lack of the protection of United States,China became more aggressive inPhilippines’ eyes.However, since the end of last century, the Philippines shifted its policy towardChina.Especially since2004,when Philippines and America became cool because ofIraq hostage incident, China seized the chance to take comprehensive diplomaticoffensive to Philippines.The two gained progress in security, defense and the SouthChina Sea issue.After Aquino came into power, the relations between China and the Philippineschanged gradually as the shift about South China Sea issue. The Sino-Philippinesrelations to the freezing point.China was redefined as the "threat" when the two countries had broken out in theSouth China Sea. Sino-Philippines relations became worse.As the end of the19thcentury,by adopting a low profile position on the South China Sea issue andtremendous advance,Sino-Philippines relations has experienced a decade of thegolden age.
