The population density of South American countries is much smaller than China,and manyplaces of these countries have not yet developed, the resources are rich, some countries havebecome one of the emerging country where Chinese people emigrated to.With China’s "goingout" strategy,the communication in economic, trade and culture between China and SouthAmerica is in-depth development,overseas Chinese in South America will continue to showsignificant growth trend.This paper concentrates on an analysis of three types of Chinese associations includingTongxianghui, Commercial and Cultural Associations of the development and characteristics infour South American countries such as Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Venezuela. Firstly, this papertries to briefly review the history of Chinese immigrants and their associations in the fourcountries of South America;secondly,this paper tries to clarify the distribution of overseasChinese in the four countries of South America, and explores the development features andsocial role of the Chinese associations in the four countries;thirdly, this paper tries to analyse theeconomic development of overseas Chinese, and summarize the activities, characteristics andcontribution of the commercial assosiations in the four countries of South America;fourthly, thispaper briefly tries to describe the cultural life situation of ovreseas Chinese in the four countriesof the South America, discuses the activities, organization structure and service scope of theChinese cultural associations;Finally, this paper tries to summarize theinterrelation,comprehensive functions and the main features, and its developing trend of thethree types of communities.This paper attempts to explores the Tongxianghui, Commercial and Cultural associations ofthe South American countries through the macroscopic analysis, in order to generally understandthe basic forms of overseas and ethnic Chinese society in the four countries of the SouthAmerica.
