Since the Reform and Opening Up, social associations in China experience rapiddevelopment and has become a part of the national governance system. A main part insocial management and public service, they are exerting a more and more importantrole in the economic, political, cultural, social and ecological construction of our city.Strengthening the credibility and self-discipline construction to fully exert theirimportance in economic development, public service, social stability maintenance andharmonious society construction has significant theoretical and practical connotations.In this paper, the author, based on his experience in Tianjin social associationadministration, studies the credibility and self-discipline construction of Tianjinmunicipal social associations. Based on the questionnaire results and annualinspection materials, the author studies the existing academic research results andrelevant experience in foreign countries, comprehensively uses relative theories andmethods and makes an overall analysis on the problems in the credibility andself-discipline construction, namely, poor capacity in services, low social credibility,poor work mechanism, irrational organization, lagged service function and channel,no information release mechanism, arbitrary actions and poor capacity in innovation.Also, the author points out the reasons and concludes that the credibility andself-discipline construction should be strengthened by adopting the credibility system.A SWOT analysis is introduced to make a strategic positioning analysis and raisesolutions and suggestions for a improved credibility and self-discipline construction toexert the functions.
