Prostitution has long been regarded as an ugly thing, but this issue has never been properly solved. Whether in the history or in reality, and whether in the East or the West, the debate on prostitution has never been ceased. At present, the prostitution has became a prominent problem in our country. Although after several anti-prostitution operation this issue ceased for a while, the problem still remains. This paper starts with the prostitution’s history of China, pointing at the initial inducement, the paper, on the perspective of history, society and juridical logic, concludes the controversial views related to prostitution for analyzing via the investigation of history and current situation of it. And on this basis the paper discusses fundamentally of how to tackle with problems caused by prostitution.This paper consists of four parts, the history of Chinese prostitution, theories about the causes of prostitution, the debate on the legalization of prostitution and the choice of the regulation of prostitution.The first part introduces the history of Chinese prostitution. Take history as a mirror, we will know how the things rise and fall, so as the issue of prostitution. Troubles of prostitution arise as gradually as its process of being figured out, while success and failure of administration of prostitution could provide precious experience.The second part presents the different theories about the causes of prostitution, and different regulations based on these theories. I divide these theories into two categories, the macro-reasons and microscopic reasons, macro-reasons refer to the explanation originating from the society, and microscopic reasons from the individual. At last, raises the economic perspectiveThe third part, core of the paper, lists the views for and against legalization ofprostitution and its arguments as well, which aims at giving a reasonable comprehensive analysis on the arguments from the perspective of sociology, biology, and philosophy of right.The fourth part is the epilogue of the paper. Based on the regulatory experience and corresponding abroad method on the supervision of prostitution, the paper is trying to come up with feasible approach to administration of prostitution in order to benefit for the juridical practice.
