Study On Influence Mechanism Of Community Environment On Residents’ Subjective Well-Being

In today’s society, environmental issues have become increasingly prominent, and human settlement environment is under threat. Housing issue has always been the most concerned about the people’s livelihood and well-being is one of increasingly hot topic all over the world. Community is the main place for residents to live and settle down, so community environment is an important part of urban human settlement environment and community environmental quality will affect the degree of residents’ housing satisfaction and their quality of life, thereby affecting the subjective well-being of the residents.According to previous studies and my investigation, the designed questionnaires (including community environment scale and housing satisfaction scale) and the GSWLS were used in this paper to explore influence mechanism of community environment on residents’ subjective well-being and test housing satisfaction intermediary role. This paper carried out the survey on 457 urban community residents in Beijing, and then used a variety of statistical methods to analyze the data.The result shows that community environment condition (M=77.88) and community residents’ subjective well-being (M=15.64) are a little higher than the average level, and housing satisfaction (M=29.02) is a little lower than the average level. Through factor analysis, community environment consists of five dimensions, namely landscape, environmental security, supporting facilities, neighborhood and community interaction; housing satisfaction consists of two dimensions, namely housing condition and property management. Through independent sample t test and variance analysis, housing satisfaction and subjective well-being have differences between groups. By path analysis, landscape and environmental security can significantly influence on subjective well-being through housing satisfaction; community interactive can not only directly influence on subjective well-being, but also indirectly through housing satisfaction; neighborhood can not only directly influence on subjective well-being, but also indirectly through housing conditions; supporting facilities can influence on subjective well-being through housing conditions. Finally, according to the practice and the result, this research can provide some effective and reasonable suggestions on community planning, construction and management for relevant departments, enterprises and community residents.
