The Experimental Study On The Inspection Of Fax Documents

The development of modern science rapidly stimulate the development of office automation. Facsimile apparatus has become an indispensable communicative tool in this field with its characteristics of rapidity and accuracy for information transmission. As the development of social economy and commercial intercourse,facsimile apparatus is gradually becoming a substitute of distant communication modes like express and mail in the use of government, enterprise and public institutions and self-employed ventures. Facsimile apparatus is widely utilized in the transmission of documents as contract, letter, bill and order, and its effects in teletransmission are heightened along with the increased economic connection between countries. However, despite the fact that facsimile apparatus brings convenience to people’s life, the crime involving facsimile apparatus counterfeiting and alteration has increased year by year. Currently, the cases involving the counterfeiting and alteration of fax documents has been raised in forensic authentication field, but there is few analysis about the authentication of fax document instead of the authentication of printing document and copying document. Therefore, a systematic measure for authentication about fax document is not built yet in the academia. Accordingly, a series of authentication and experiments will be conducted, and the author will conclude the measures for the inspection of fax documents.The introduction part will explain the domestic situation of the authentication of fax document and its research value. The author will analyze the origin of the problem of the authentication of fax document and its evidentiary effect when it serves as evidence from the angle of Contract Law and Electronic Signature Law and some relevant laws.This article has four parts, and a total of more than twenty thousand words.In the first part, the author will expound the necessity of the authentication of fax document theoretically through the introduction of the concept, structure and the operating principle of facsimile apparatus.In the second part, the author will introduce the situation of the authentication of fax document first, and inspect the fax document and the copies of fax document in the way of laser printing.In the third and forth part, the author will conduct a experiment involving technical route and experimental procedure of the authentication of multiple fax transmission.The experiment is divided into three parts. The first part names the identification of fax trace in examined material. The second part names the the trace comparison between fax document and its coping document. The third part names the identification of characteristics’ variation through multiple fax transmission. The fourth part names the special characteristics identification in the authentication of fax document.In the fifth part, the author will explain the the special characteristics identification in the authentication of fax document, which is the fax header code and platen feature of fax documents.In the last part, the author will make a conclusion about experiment and sum up some points in the authentication of multiple fax transmission and make some suggestion in that regard.Most of the authentication of fax document based on case-study experience and there is no systematic way of authentication yet. Therefore, it is necessary to have a systematic research on the authentication of fax document.
