| Opium, gambling and prostitute are three obstacles interrupting the social development in modern China, and there are still the three problems in Hetao region, which even forms a wild trend. In this paper, relatively systematic study is carried out for the social problems of Hetao region of Inner Mongolia. At first, it is the gambling. The gambling atmosphere in Hetao region is related to the psychology of gamblers, as well as the local history tradition. Hetao region is characterized by numerous gamblers, wide coverage and rapid development speed. Meanwhile, it may also weaken the young and middle-aged labor, and corrupt the social customs. Consequently, the government takes such measures for gambling as the restrictions, strikes and ideological education. Secondly, it is the smoke toxin problem. The smoke toxin in Hetao region is originated from the medicinal value, toxin nature and its high profit. Hetao region is one of the significant producing areas of opium in modern China, with numerous people who smoke opium naturally and general smuggling phenomenon. The opium will not only hurt people’s mental health, but also block the agricultural development in Hetao region. Consequently, the problems shall be coped with in three steps, including the inspection of opium seedlings, capture of drug dealers and smoking cessation. Finally, it is the prostitute problem. Due to the turbulent situation in Hetao region, as well as the traditional opinions and social corrupt customs, the prostitution and whoring problem is quite severe in this region. The brothel operation system is widely distributed in Hetao region, which severely destroys the mind and body of females, and results in the popular sexually transmitted diseases. The local government tries to rinse the remaining social dirt of the old society by closing down the brothels and transforming the prostitutes. |
