In the 60’s of last century, modern liberalism was facing increasingly severe challenges both inside and outside. Hume’s political theory due to its unique connotation and extremely beneficial for scholars to reflect on modern liberalism, finally able to enter the view of academic concern. Over half a century, the western academic research field of vision on Hume has been quite broad, especially for the overall interpretation of his theory is colorful, has yielded fruitful results. But at the same time, the systematic normative research of academia on the core of Hume’s political philosophy, Hume’s theory of justice, is still lacking, especially the domestic research on Hume in this area is almost a blank. Therefore, this article will mainly adopt the normative research method to research Hume’s theory of justice. On the basis of a thorough research on its historical background and the content itself, I will argue that:first, Hume’ s theory of justice is, and why is a rather unique property justice theory. Second, due to some very specific epistemological principles or prejudice, and some misunderstanding of certain factors, the emotionalism justice theory was in a greater extent distorted into a mutual advantage characterization of utilitarianism by him, rather than the deontology similar to Smith. At the same time, I will point out the value which was contained in his conception of justice and widely accepted in modern justice theory. Third, I will try to analysis the attribution of the property justice theory. And I will respectively point out the reference for modern liberalism when it is treated as "the realism liberalism"and"the complete system of philosophy".Therefore, this paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly comb the research status of Hume’s theory of justice in the domestic and foreign and point out the origin of my research, research methods and ideas. The second chapter is the statement of the historical background on the justice theory, namely a brief description of Hume’s life and the special historical background containing time and idea two aspect of it. The third chapter aims to discuss the causes and the formation of Hume’s property justice theory. The fourth chapter clarifies the main content of Hume’s property justice theory, including moral quality of the property justice, the three theoretical principle of the property justice, the practical transition of the property justice. The fifth chapter respectively discusses the contradictions and defects in the two components (the origin of justice virtue theory and justice theory)of Hume’s property justice theory. The sixth chapter explains the theoretical value of it, including its value for the modern justice theory and the conservatism and the liberalism two ideologies.Anyway, the purpose of this paper is firstly to accurately clarify the justicial value and shortcomings of Hume’s property justice theory at the normative levels, which may be helpful to avoid various misunderstandings and quotations without discrimination. Then,it will discuss its ideological attribution at the consequence of the content, and expound its theoretical influence and significance in this regard.
