A combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis is used in this paper. Based on media frame theory, the article analyzes relevant reports on Tibetan Buddhism of the domestic mainstream media, China Daily. This paper aims to explain, what aspects of Tibetan Buddhism, as a representative image of Tibet, are presented to foreign audiences, and in which ways is the Tibetan Buddhism covered, in the course of external communication. Reports of the last decade are selected in the thesis, and detailed analysis of the text of the samples have been carried out。The first chapter, namely:introduction, explains the background and meaning of the theme, While, the reference materials have been sorted out and the frame theory has been summarized; the second chapter, provides information about the purposes、the methods and the innovation points and difficulties of this study; the third chapter, analyses the statistics data of Tibetan Buddhism in external news reports; The fourth chapter, which is the focus of this thesis, from three dimensions of the frame theory, namely, macro, meso and micro level, brings light to the frame of the cover of Tibetan Buddhism; the fifth chapter, interprets the origins of the frame of Tibetan Buddhism, in the reports, from media organization level, and personal level and text level respectively, and recommendations for improvement are raised as well. As for the last chapter, the lack of this study is summed up and some suggestions for further research have been proposed.
