Xixia is a regime established in the northwest of China by Dangxiang ethnic groups.Xixia absorbs the cultures of the surrounding ethnic groups while simultaneously assimilating and creating a splendid culture.The Xixia Buddhist culture is a splendid page in the history of Chinese Buddhist culture.In the process of development,Xixia Buddhism was influenced by Huihu,Song,Liao and Jin Buddhism to varying degrees.Tibetan Buddhism also spread widely in Xixia.Huihu is located in the traffic routes between China and the West,and accepted Buddhism early.Huihu Buddhists had a deeper influence on the Xixia Buddhism.With the occupation by Xixia,the Huihu were valued by the rulers of Xixia and contributed to the translation of the Xixia scriptures of the Tripitaka to promote the development of the Xixia Buddhism.Xixia has a close relationship with Buddhism of Song,Liao and Jin.Western Xia retraced the Song Dynasty for the Tripitaka.The official and folk Buddhist exchanges between Xixia and Liaojin promoted the development of Xixia Buddhism and promoted the relationship.During the Xixia era,the Tibetan monks spread Buddhism to Xixia,and Tibetan Buddhism also spread widely in Xixia.The Tibetan monks were treated favorably by the rulers of the Xixia and enjoyed privileges;Xixia social customs,architecture,paintings,and vocabulary were all stamped with the stamp of Tibetan Buddhism.As Xixia is located at the Silk Road,it controls the throat of Hexi and plays an important role in the spread of Buddhism.
