Though there were several papers and principles mentioning promoting dialogue among different civilizations in the United Nations during 20th Century. This topic was first made formal agenda when UN announced 2001 as year of dialogue among civilizations. After that, UN General Assembly, UN Secretary General, UNESCO and UN Alliance of Civilizations have played different roles and contributed in a diverse way to promote dialogue among civilizations.This paper briefly reviewed the current research regarding UN and dialogue among different civilizations in Chapter One. From Chapter Two to Five, UN General Assembly, UNSG, UNESCO and UNAOC’s work and their each role in dialogue among civilizations were discussed. For the last chapter, analysis was made. UN’s work in this area shows certain trends as the followings, from loose to regular, from general to specialized, from bilateral to multilateral. This analysis also could contribute to UN’s development in new working area and provide inspirations for UN to overcome its own flaw and avoid being marginalized.
