On American Hegemony Crisis From Perspective Of World System Theory

The worldwide American subprime mortgage crisis, once more pushed the tropic of American hegemony to the cusp of public opinion,in fact, this is both the result of American hegemony, and also has a serious impact on American hegemony. Since world war Ⅱ,accompanied by expansion of economy globalization, American hegemony dominated the changes of world’s situation in various aspects, but due to crisis of capitalism and rise of emerging force,American hegemony is facing unprecedented challenges. Taking Immanuel Wallerstein’s world system theory as perspective, this paper summarized the decline of American hegemony in capitalist world,especially troubles America faced under the background of financial crisis, thoroughly elaborated its performance and causes, and further revealed the crisis that capitalist world faced.This paper consists three parts, theme and ideas of all parts are as follows:First,from establishment of American hegemony and performance of present hegemonic crisis to lead to the topic, and combined with Wallerstein’s theory to explain the periodic law of world hegemony and troubles American hegemony faced now; According to Wallerstein’s theory of "center-edge", narrated with American hegemony crisis deepened, its central position of capitalism world would be shaken.Second, take perspective of world system theory further analyzed causes for American hegemony;Third, through crisis of American hegemony, from economic and international political pattern this two essential aspects further analyzed the difficulties that United States and the capitalist world faced.
