Nowadays, with the rapidly aging population, the aging effect emerged, which has aroused more public attention. Chinese pension system cannot follow the way of that of western countries, limited from the China’s national conditions. Defects of traditional aging pattern has being exposed which could not meet the needs of the aged in modern times.This paper researched the actual physical and mental conditions of the aged and analyzed successful social warfare nursing buildings from which picked up the advanced experience of design concepts home and abroad. On the practice of the design of Yinfa community in Nanjing Social Welfare Service Center, this paper summarized some key points of design method of nursing homes by using multi-disciplinary crossing research methods of architecture, planning, geriatric psychology and sociology of old ages. This paper discussed the necessity and the way of creating indoor and outdoor space environment, which could meet the physical and mental needs of the aged from many aspects, such as overall planning, building-scale, interior space design, outdoor environment design, Architecture Detail Design, physical environment and barrier free design. Thus this paper proposed the humanized design method which could bring spiritual enjoyment for the aged. This kind of design method had positive effects on promoting the level of service, improving the facilities and correcting the drawback of nursing buildings, which would change the quality of life of the aged.This paper was divided into four chapters. The first chapter was the introduction part. Then the second chapter presented the design method of nursing homes. The third chapter, which is the focus of the paper, detailed the design method of Yinfa community of Nanjing Social Welfare Service Center. In the end, the fourth chapter carried on the simple summary.
