Research On Service Design For Nursing Home

As the aging population in China grows sharply while fewer young people support traditional home-based care for the aged,nursing home has been highly concerned by the government and all sectors of society.At present,the nursing home in China still stays in its initial stage and faces many problems,such as unsound service facilities,imperfect system,low service satisfaction and some service resources do not meet the actual demand of the aged.This thesis tries to provide a theoretical model for service design for nursing home on the basis of state-stipulated nursing home service standard,using service design theory as frame,focusing on the needs of the aged and taking the demands of staff and the family member of the elder as reference.This model will not only promote the development of nursing home service design theory but also provide reference for the service construction of nursing home and further bring better service experience to the elder in nursing home.Firstly,this thesis introduced the general situation of service design theories through documentary method.Then it analyzed the service system of several nursing homes on the basis of questionnaire,interview and field research and summarizes 1 capability assessment before check in and 10 service items that widely provided by nursing homes.According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory,the needs of the elder lived in nursing home can be divided into 5 aspects,that is survival need,feeling need,affection need,social need and ego need.Base on this theory,the 10 service items provided by nursing homes were divided into 5 categories,that is daily supplies service,daily care service,mentality/spirit service,entertainment service and relearning service.Then it summarized the results of research on the elder lived in nursing home(service receiver),staff worked in nursing home(service supplier)and the family members of the elder lived in nursing home(stakeholder)and provide detailed optimization suggestions on the five needs focusing on the elder.Aimed at deficiency of the existing nursing home service design,a theoretical model of nursing home service design in China is built,including the principle,procedure and method,on the basis of service design theories proposed by International Council of Societies of Industrial Design,UK National Bureau of Standards,IDEO Design Consultancy Corp.,Live Work Design Service Corp.And stated in Introduction to Industrial Design.This thesis took Hunan Shanxiaotang health care center for the elder as a case study and analyzed the construction of its 5 service items and their optimization design from the angle of nursing home service design.
