Japan and Australia are both important states in the Asia-Pacific region, but also thesignificant U.S. allies in the region, the development of relations between Japan andAustralia has important significance for the Asia-Pacific security environment. Tounderstand the relationship of Japan-Australia in Abe regime, we must start with thehistory of Shinzo Abe’s personal experience and thought in his ruling, as well as thehistory of development of bilateral relations between Japan and Australia. Abe’s ownruling thought including great power diplomacy to restore “Japan has pride”, and thevalue diplomacy.Bilateral relations between the two countries, Japan and Australia experienced fromindirect ally to enemy, then to "quasi-alliance", This quasi-alliance has shift after UnitedState return to Asia, deepened in terms of function, such as military, political, economicand cultural aspect. While westward shift in the geographical space, the concentratedexpression of the win over India.From the reason, the first factor is the impact on the United State to Japan-Australiarelations, specific performance in strengthen platform between Japan and Australia afterreturn to Asia-Pacific. Form Japan’s perspective, to strengthen ties with Australia is partof the Abe regime expanded its influence and its own maritime strategy. From theAustralian point of view, strengthen ties to Japan is the need to adjust the strategy itself.However, Japan and Australia is to become a true alliance also affected by manyconstraints. The first is the American factor, a too strong Japan-Australia alliance is notin line with US interests in East Asia. Followed by China factor, between Japan andAustralia on China’s attitude and hostility is not consistent. Differences between theinterests of Japan and Australia also makes the bilateral relations is facing alliancedilemma like "abandoned" and “implicated”.
