On The Ideology Theory Of Althusser

During the era of Althusser,with the development of Capitalist society, the acting way of Ideology is totally different from the previous way. The traditional revelation of Ideology can not play a enlightening effect at present.In order to make a deep research of Ideology, Althusser have to face the following two questions:1, as a part of social conscious, how Ideology becomes social issues?2, In a society which advocating freedom and equality, how the ruling that some people on another part reproduces? The frist questions is about the mechanism of Ideology itself, the second one is about the social role of Ideology.In order to answer the questions, Althusser makes a research program. First he explores the Ideology which feature as social element. He criticize the traditional Concept of cause and effect and the view that economic base determines the superstructure.Then he reflects and transforms the traditional social structure with the support of structural concept of cause and effect. Furthermore, he re-anchored Ideology’s uniqueness in the social structure. On this basis, he makes a new interpretation about the relationship of Ideology and historySecondly, Althusser research on the relative autonomy social element--deology. After analyzes the effect of ideological Subject, Althusser finds that the ideological centralization-mirror structure has a call function.Based on the.dialectical relationship of Signifier and Signified, he points out the truly relationship between Subject and actual individuals in Ideology.With the above theory, Althusser turn to analyze the current ideological reality of capitalism. He found that Ideology has already linked to operation of capitalist society rights, social reproduction. He pointed out that the essence of Ideology is production relations reproduce. Further more, Althusser finds the material carrier of Ideology is the Ideological State Apparatuses(ISA). This far, Althusser solved the theoretical issues that raised by the reality.Although there are some deficiencies during Althusser’s theoretical construct, but the view of the structural concept of cause and effect, the heterogeneous concept of time, the rigorous structural concept, as well as the view about country, society, bourgeois right operation, and other issues of profound class struggle are all impressive.
