Retirement age means that due to the effect of the change of current socialpopulations’ life quality on their longevity and the transformation of work category,the government makes an adjustment of limitation to max age suitable for continuouswork according to the requirement of social and economic development. Differentfrom the poor economic foundation and low female status in the past,the voice ofequality between men and women becomes louder and louder in modern society,andthis idea is also reflected in retirement age. The view of retirement age graduallybecomes consistent between the government and the folk. However,reasonable policymaking is based on reasonable exploration and investigation,so there is not yet aspecific system for unified retirement age for men and women at the present stage.The Third Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee pointed out thatthe government should make progressive policy for retirement age in China’s keyindustries before2020,i.e. it should postpone retirement age of partial positions in aproper way. This policy has been affirmed by many state institutions and sectors. Inparticular,Shanghai took the lead of policy attempt and issued Trial Measures ofFlexibly Postponing Basic Pension Procedures Applied by Various Talents inEnterprises to conduct a buffered experiment of retirement age. Working personnel’sview of a problem is different from that of the government and enterprises,so thegovernment should keep prudent when it makes an effective,reasonable and scientificpolicy of unified retirement age for men and women.This paper focuses on analyzing the retirement age for men and women in Chinaand proposing feasible solutions. Based on foreign advanced experience andschemes,it makes a detailed theoretical analysis and summarization of different typesof Chinese labors,such as men workers,women workers,general women workers and cadre,to strive to establish a scientific retirement scheme suitable for Chinesepeople. For China’s vast territory,abundant resources,and large population,theauthor proceeds from the reality and argues that the government should make laborsystem for different work categories in different regions according to localconditions,so as to finally work out reasonable,scientific and flexible system that canbe accepted by the masses.
