A Study On The Relations Between Kyrgyzstan And Uzbekistan

The relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan exert repercussions on international geopolitics, regional affairs, anti-terrorism efforts, international energy supply and major power relations as well.The retrospect of the history of the relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan finds that the general theme of the relations has turned from cooperation to confrontation. The main part of the thesis studied the following key factors:water disputes, border issues, cross-border nation issues, developing mode differences and the repercussions of Russia-US relations on Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan relations.The study finds that water disputes and border issues take the center stage in the Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan relations, while developing mode differences and cross-border nation issues work as hidden forces, and the developments of Russia-US relations also play part in the bilateral relations. The development of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan relations influences not only the two countries involved but also the regional affairs. After24years, the factors involved, that have intertwined and could not be solved in foreseeable future, jointly have set the relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on a spiraling-down course.
