The tyranny is one of regime in the Greek political philosophy, opposed to the monarchy, and is considered to be the most evil regime. The tyrant is the most unfortunate and the unjust man. This knowledge about tyrant and tyranny is not born to Greece, but the mind of the generations of the Greek. In Greek history the tyranny of ancient times ever play a positive role, especially in a variety of factors. The tyranny transform aristocracy to the citizen’s politic. But this does not cancel the nature of tyrant and tyranny. The most important feature of tyranny is that tyrant acquired the political power of city by the illegal way. This is the reason why the Greek thinkers object to the tyranny, but not the only reason. The word of tyrant appeared in the lyric poet’s poem of ancient times firstly, but only an objective description of tyrant. With the development of the society, the word of tyrant appeared increasingly in the works of the Greek thinkers, including the poetry of Solon, the tragedy of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, the history of Herodotus and Thucydides, the book of Plato, Xenophon and Aristotle. All of them analyzed the tyrant and tyranny, and all consistently against the tyrant and tyranny. Their attitude of the tyranny has been a great influence on later generations, not to mention the middle age even the people who are in favor of the monarchy in modern time have to meet the tyranny.
