A Study Of Integration And Utilization Of Resources Of The Piety Culture Indwelled In The Ideological And Political Education

Piety, as a traditional virtue of C hinese nation, has tremendous impact on individual improvement and reconciliation of interpersonal relationships. After years and time of maturity and refining, this concept of piety has seen itself developed into the unique Chinese piety culture, comprising a fundamental part of the fine traditional culture in this nation. In a perspective concerning ideological and political education, the piety culture is a resource with substantial values that deserves high attention as well as rational utilisation.However, the piety culture is featured by different characteristics as evolving under different historical circumstances, which also give rise to the complexity of the co-existence of essence and dross, positive and negative factors. How to treat and integrate the resource of piety culture regards to ideological and political education in a dialectical and rational manner, therefore, remains an issue presented to educators in ideology and politics.This dissertation, based on a review of extensive literature, gives in-depth analysis on the implication of piety culture. It argues that the piety culture is a significant culture resource for ideological and political education by correspondingly linking to and proving by related theories on the resources of ideological and political education. Meanwhile, this paper, by tracking the development of piety culture, reveals the historical features and integrates the underlying profound and intricate resources of ideological and political education in piety culture from four aspects, namely, individual self-development, domestic moral education, social code and patriotism education. Furthermore, combined with the status quo regarding to our social practise and the ideological and political education, the paper expressively states that the aforementioned resource should be effectively utilised in the education of ideology and politics so as to facilitate individual self- improvement, domestic morality, social code and patriotism, which in turn, simultaneously enriches the theory of ideological and political education, optimises the outcome of ideological and political education, and promotes and extends the traditional culture and mentality.
