Study On Modern Culture Of Supporting Seniors

The system of supporting seniors in China is confronting grave challenges with the rapid population aging process. Addressing the aging problem properly should not only depend on the development of economy, the perfect degree of the social guarantee system but also depend on the old support culture. The traditional old support culture had been played an important role in the social stability and development in ancient China. However, during the modernized development of society as well as the development of population, the traditional old support culture has suffered from great impact and even brought the society negative influences. This fact makes building a modern old support culture that in line with the requirements of current developments is urgent.Under the guidance of Marxist Sinicization, the construction of modern old supp ort culture should base on the requirements of current developments as well as the bas ic national conditions of China. Meanwhile, successfully deal with the relationships of the national culture and the foreign culture as well as the relationships of the tradition al and the modern is the key for the construction of modern old support culture. Based on the above ideas and the Marxist basic theory, we analyze the problems of the tradi tional old support culture in modern society by considering the development and chan ges of the society as well as the intension of culture in 4 different aspects. First, the hi storical changing; Second, the development of productive forces; Third, the transition of value attitude; Fourth, the change of population structure. We propose the principle s of construction of the modern old support culture and its characteristics based on the basic idea of the socialist mental civilization construction. We apply the theory and b asic methods of ideological and political education to construct the modern old suppor t culture. Further, we propose construction of the modern old support culture should t hrough three ways that are ideology, value and institution. We also point out that to co nstruct the modern old support culture, the government should guide the whole proces s, families should the foundation and the society should be the main power.
