This thesis mainly researches the crime of British society during the Industrial Revolution, trying to study crime phenomenon, different crime types, analysis of its causes and ways to solve it. There are four parts in this thesis.The first part is introducing the overall conditions of the crime of British society, which was changing and transforming rapidly during the Industrial Revolution. At this time crime phenomenon stuck out. There are two aspects showing this, which are the rise of crime rates and the seriousness of crime phenomenon. The rise of crime rates will be proved by some statistics and some British writings and opinions will testify the serious of crime phenomenon. Then the second section analyses the crime type of British society during this period. There are three main crime types in this paper. The fist type is property crime, the second is the crime of vulnerable groups and violation of woman and the third is collective and organized crime.The second part will analyze the causes of crime, which have three reasons, They are economic, law and police system and culture. Economic reason has three aspects: population increase, enlargement of gap between rich and poor, bad living condition and standardization of goods. Law and police reason also has three aspects:disadvantages of private prosecution, the evolution of criminal law and absence of professional police. Cultural reason has two aspects:education and morality.The third part is mainly about measures to solve the crime British society uses during this period. It has three aspects, which are economic measures, law measures and cultural measures. Economic measures are changing city living conditions and promulgating economic laws. Law measures are improving criminal laws, establishing professional police and modern prisons and transporting prisoners to overseas. Cultural measures are developing education and changing social morality.The last part analyses the result of the measures to deal with the crime British society take during the Industrial Revolution and its effect on Chinese society. The first section evaluates the positive and negative effects of the measures and mainly affirms its positive effects. The second section analyses the reference and inspiration to Chinese Society the measures bring. There are three aspects Chinese society can learn from, which is governance ways, the construction of rule by law, ideological and cultural construction and rule of law and police force.In brief, crime phenomenon of British society during the Industrial Revolution stuck out. It not only was influenced by the change of British society and economy, but also influenced the change of British society and economy. To some extent ways to solve crime phenomenon did play an effect and keep British society stable, which created good environment for the change of British Society.
