Study On The Mau Mau Movement And Its Implication On Comtemporary Political Process Of Kenya

After World War Ⅱ,for economy and strategic needs, Britain enhanced and improved its colonial rule in Kenya colonies by encouraging European immigrants and the implementation of "gradualism" improvement. At the same time, as the "decolonization" wave, the power of African nationalism and anti-colonial strengthened, Kenya society changed sharply. The appeal of racial equality, political rights and land distribution greatly challenged the legitimacy of the colonial regime and identity. Finally, pushing Kenya enter the independent countdown.The Mau Mau movement is one of the important events which affecting the process of modern Kenya’s national construction and independence. In the middle of the twentieth century, after inoculation, it experienced eruptions, climax and end. At the beginning of its formation, it was a Kikuyu swearing-in ceremony secret meetings, Kenya African Union (KAU) promoted Kikuyu by following this custom of unity. Radicals controlled the KAU in 1951, then the violence which organized by Mau Mau members aimed at the chiefs and Europeans violence surged, eventually culminating the deepest armed uprising in Kenya’s colonial historyThis article takes the formation and development of the Mau Mau movement as the main line, in an attempt to clarify the social political and economic factors of the movement. Beginning with the analyze of how conflicts of interests promoted the formation of the Mau Mau movement. Then focus on the reflected social problems in today’s Kenya, as well as the attitudes toward Mau Mau by different governments.Through analyze the outlook of Kenya-Britain relationship,so as to deepen the cognition of the Kenya’s political and social development.
