The Realization About Freedom Of Expression In Contemporary China

Since the reform and opening up, Chinese living standards continue to improve and the utilization rate of the achievement of science and technology become higher and higher. Networks, newspapers, books, news media have become a part of public life. Subsequently, the people want to make themselves to be known and express their point of view more than ever before. But paradoxically, because of the influence of historical background, national characteristics, political environment, theory and other reasons, the freedom of speech is not perfect, and there are so many social problems. Marxist philosophy tells us that the role of social consciousness is very strong, inorder to reflect the value about developing our society, we must understand what is the freedom of speech.So, the main purpose of this paper is to explore the content of freedom of speech in China today, and puts forward some feasible suggestions on how to promote its progress.This paper will use literature research, comparison research method, and combining with the social reality and the Marx philosophy to study. The literature research mainly includes discussion the freedom of speech theory in classical works of Marxism, Maoism, the theoretical system of socialism with China characteristics, and the realm of Law in China or another country. The comparison research mainly includes, compared with the actual situation in contemporary China, compared with the history of China, and compared with different countries on the theory about freedom of speech. Finally, through these research methods, I will summarize the content of the freedom of speech in contemporary China.Contemporary Chinese freedom of speech should be like that, Chinese citizens have the freedom of speech, publication, assembly, association and demonstrations. and these freedom must be in the range of legal provisions, and can not prejudice the other individual, collective,and our nation’s legal interest. At the same time, the party and the government have the obligation to guide the public opinion and social trends of thought with socialist core values, to make sure that the citizen’s freedom of speech can be able to contribute to the state and society. And the way of expression should be various, have the Chinese characteristic form, and the government has the obligation to guarantee these form can be realized.
