A Study On The Development Measures Of City Diplomacy In Dalian

Countries have been the leading role in international relations for ages, relations among countries are deemed as important components of international relations. With the deepening of globalization, as a new type of diplomacy, city diplomacy plays a more and more important role in international relations, has caught great attention from countries and cities. Since China opened up to the outside world more than thirty-years ago, the exchange between Dalian and international community has achieved rapid and overall growth. The city diplomacy in Dalian has become an important way for Dalian to make foreign exchange and cooperation. Meanwhile, the city diplomacy gradually turned into a significant part of foreign affairs in Dalian. The study on the development of city diplomacy in Dalian has important theoretical value as well as practical significance to the development of city diplomacy in Dalian even for other cities in China.Based on the existing theories about city diplomacy, the author makes research and analysis on city diplomacy in Dalian. The dissertation is composed of the introduction, body and conclusion. The body of the article consists of three chapters. The main contents include: First, developing status of city diplomacy in Dalian, including characteristics and role of city diplomacy, as well as existing problems and suggestions; Second, comparison of plan proof, feasibility analysis of city diplomacy in Dalian with SWOT tools, taking the successful experience of Guangzhou as reference; Third, measures to developing city diplomacy in Dalian. The author tries to stress the importance of promoting city diplomacy under the new situation and help Chinese cities in seeking measures of upgrading future international exchanges through the case study of Dalian.By sorting out the development of city diplomacy in Dalian, author tries clearly point out positioning and direction of Dalian, further promote the development of city diplomacy, local economic and social development in Dalian.
