Although the time that public diplomacy as a new form of diplomacy formed is not long, but then it had a significant impact on the traditional diplomatic approach. For the original definition of public diplomacy is based on a country’s government as the main body, to the people of other countries as the main objective, a diplomatic behavior through a variety of media to be implemented. With globalization, the main public diplomacy more diversified, the addition of non-State actors as well as various personal factors. The birth of new media not only changed the way we learn, live and work, but also for the political sphere of public diplomacy has injected new vitality. Make use of new media conducted public diplomacy between the two sides interactions more convenient, more timely dissemination of information, the mode of transmission is also more diverse and abundant. Although South Korea’s public diplomacy compared with European and American countries started late, but rapid development, which is finite in South Korea’s traditional diplomatic strength factors and established cultural orientated national development strategy indivisible. South Korean government put forward "from cultural diplomacy to public diplomacy" the long-term strategic development plan. Moreover, the set of public diplomacy institutions in Korea is also perfect. The South Korean government attaches importance to its diplomatic relations with China after Park Geun-hye became the president. For the first time the South Korea put the relations with China ahead of Japan and put public diplomacy as an important diplomacy means of China’s. The use of new media technology, combined with China a variety of new social software, the Korean government has achieved positive results in terms of public diplomacy toward China. South Korean government make good use of this new media technology to strengthen diplomatic, improve its foreign relations, especially with China’s public diplomacy strategy worthy of our discussion and study.This article is divided into three parts to introduct the public diplomacy from South Korea to China in new media age.The introduction is mainly about the purpose and significance of the topic, the current research status at home and abroad, the research methods, the difficulties and innovation of this article. The first part briefly introduced the theoretical knowledge of related public diplomacy and new media, including the basic concepts of public diplomacy, the basic characteristics and the relations between the soft power theory; theoretical knowledge of define the new media, new media in comparisons with traditional media. The second part is the core of the article, and on the basis of access to relevant information on the case, mainly explained how South Korea to carry out public diplomacy in China in new media era. Among them, including South Korea’s public diplomacy institutions’ setting and use microblogging and other new means of communication for public diplomacy in China, and described pushing factors in the success of public diplomacy. The third part is the focus of the article, mainly on the challenges the Chinese public diplomacy facing, for the issue, to put some suggestions to improve China’s public diplomacy in new media era.
