Sweden Democrats is established in 1988, and it is a small party in the edge of the Swedish political parties. But since 2010, the party has gained rapid development.In the 2010 parliamentary elections, the party exceeded 4% parliamentary threshold limit to enter parliament for the first time.In the 2014 elections the party won 12.86 percent of the votes, and became the third largest party in Sweden.Polls in August 2015 show that, the Swedish Democratic Party’s support rate has exceeded the Swedish Social Democratic Party and the Moderate Party, becoming the largest party.Sweden Democrats strongly rise adds some uncertainty to the Swedish politics.What are the reasons and effects for the rapid development of the Sweden Democrats in the short time? This paper starts with the historical evolution and the reason why the Sweden Democrats has risen rapidly and emphatically analyzes its impact on Swedish traditional party politics.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces briefly the historical development of the Sweden Democrats.According to the changes of the position in the Swedish party politics, the history of the Sweden Democrats can be divided into three stages:the years 1988-1998 is the foundation period of the Sweden Democrats.At that time, the influence of the Sweden Democrats was limited and the party was only a small party in the edge of the Swedish political parties. The year 1998-2010 is a breakthrough period of the Sweden Democrats. It won seats in both the municipal level and the churches elections.A big breakthrough came out in the year of 2010.In this year,the Sweden Democrats entered parliament and more importantly it became the third largest party.The second part will focus on the reasons for the rapid development of the Sweden Democrats.First, economic globalization, immigration, refugee issues and the general rise of the European far-right parties provide favorable external conditions for the rise of the Sweden Democrats. Second, the crisis of the welfare state in Sweden and new media’s promoting provide a strong domestic condition.Third, the Sweden Democrats choose their own effective strategies and powerful leaders of the party, provide a strong internal power.The achievementwhich the Sweden Democrats got waspartlybased on the policies it had.The third part ofthis paper mainlyintroduces the political. The Sweden Democratshostileto the EU and the euro zone, so it advocates Sweden withdraw from the EU. Besides the party opposedto immigration,advocatingstrict immigration and refugee policy.The rise of the Sweden Democrats has partly affected the party politics and the domestic political environment.Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, the paper concludes that although the Sweden Democrats has become an important political force in the Sweden’s political life, it is still unable to affect the policymaking mechanism.After solving some problems, the Sweden Democrats will achieve greater development.
