Mao Zedong’s Views On People And Its Contemporary Value

The views on people that Mao Zedong had insisted and advocated over a long period of time were realized in Revolutionary War period through fighting alongside the people. It formed fundamental points of view like, profound connotation of people and Party-Masses relationship, the realization of the masses interests, etc. These points of view are all indispensable and important constituent of Mao Zedong Thoughts. They are also important ideological products of Mao Zedong’s profound understanding of the core ideas of Chinese excellent traditional culture combined with the Marxist materialist conception of history. They run through Mao Zedong Thoughts. Mao Zedong’s view on people has become an important guiding ideology for Chinese people’s revolutionary and construction cause and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.This paper reviews Mao Zedong’s views on people systematically, and analyzes the process of the formation. On the basis of this, the paper discusses the main content and characteristics of Mao Zedong’s views on people; points out the historical contributions and limitations of Mao Zedong’s views on people; and proposes the great value of insisting the views on people to the contemporary society. Mao Zedong’s view on people is an important theoretical result based on the new democratic revolution and the socialist revolution combined with the practice of socialist construction. It mainly includes:(1) the theoretical basis of the views on people is “people are the creators of history”;(2) the core issue of the views on people is fully development of people’s democracy;(3) the final destination of the views on people is serving the people whole-heartedly;(4) the working method of the views on people is “from the masses to the masses”. The characteristics of Mao Zedong’s views on people have resolute social classifications, distinctive times and prominent practicality. Insisting and developing Mao Zedong’s views on people, and exploring the contemporary value of Mao Zedong’s views on people could provide guidance for the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and actively achieve the “Two Century Goals” and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.In this paper, the literature review method and the theoretical analysis method are used to study Mao Zedong’s views on people and its contemporary value that are pointed out the important theoretical value and practical significance existed under the new situation. The people create history; the people endow the ruling power of the Communist Party; people are the foundation of the Communist Party’s ruling. Inheriting and developing views on people that was insisted and advocated by Mao Zedong over a long period of time is propitious to handle the contradictions among the people and Party-masses relationship correctly; is propitious to recognize the historical mission of the ruling party correctly; is propitious to make clear the issue that the reform and opening up and constructing the socialism with Chinese characteristics are for whom and depend on whom; and is propitious to promote the realization of Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
