In this paper, it takes the folk beliefs of Hmong historical immigrant Village of Guanba in Southwest Hubei Province as a case, investigating the historical changes of folk beliefs of Hmong historical immigrant groups. The article mainly probes into the folk wisdom of their folk beliefs survival and development under the background of modernization. This paper argues that the historical changes of contemporary immigrant ethnic groups’ folk beliefs are closely related to the national policies and its own survival strategies. As a "little tradition", it interacts with the national authorities as a "great tradition".Between them, the "national symbols" being planted in the folk ceremony performance is a major survival strategy; Meanwhile, the folk beliefs and its rituals would become their own ethnic identity as a cultural symbol in order to get more social and economic resources. The production and practice of survival strategy, contains the Hmong people’s efforts, the wisdom of local folk elites and the authorities’ s support. This survival strategy is an art of alleviation of the tensive structure and construction of a harmonious society in Rural China.
