The Survival Logic Of Rural Folk Magic Believe In Northern Zhejiang

Since the reform and opening-up policy, the traditional folk beliefs activities revive gradually, along with the ideological weakening control and the promoted policy of religious freedom across the country. In addition to using or reengineering the related traditional culture with the "cultural stage and natural economic" strategies by local governments, the folk belief and activities, including the folk magic believe and activities belong to "The Black Market" according to the related national policy and law, which are organized by the grassroots also emerge in endlessly. It also appears that various folk magic beliefs activities organized by the village witches rise frequently in the rural areas of northern Zhejiang Province which has a long history of Buddhism and Taoism.In this paper, the writer learn from the anthropological method of field research and qualitative research methods of sociology, put the YH village in Jiaxing as a case, try to analyze the internal logic for why and how the folk magic belief and activities can survive continuously and develop in the rural area of northern Zhejiang Province by the perspective of "the little tradition".This paper mainly divided into five parts. The first chapter of "introductory" gives the question consciousness, the significance of the research, the relevant existing research, and the research methods. The second chapter basically introduces the background and current situation of research objects, including the structure type of this village, basic features, and the existing superficial characteristics. In the third chapter, the folk magic believe group is classified into different parts. It also indicates that the main inner forces that promote the devotees to join the folk magic belief activities are the satisfaction of various practical needs and the external power are from the inheritance of traditional local culture and the limitations of state control. The fourth chapter analyze the survival space of rural folk magic believe mainly from the angle of upper local state power's current effect and point out that the space for its continuous development is applying the strategy of attachment of Buddha and Taoism intentionally or unintentionally. The fifth chapter comes to a conclusion that the existence and development of rural folk magic believe in north Zhejiang is an active efforts that the grassroots make use of traditional culture to meet their needs in the acquiescence of local basic-level governments.
