Since entering the new century, the international and domestic situation is undergoing profound changes. On the one hand, from the perspective of our domestic environment, our country is in the social contradictions. Social conflicts intensified, various ideologies impacted fierce, public mind become negative and impatient, social instability factors increased significantly. On the other hand, the international hostile force change their strategy. They have accelerated its steps on erosion and infiltration policy in ideological field. They attempt to make social conflicts in order to achieve the goal of peaceful evolution through demonizing Chinese system. China’s social conflicts occurred frequently in recent years, such as Weng’an event in Guizhou in 2008, Shishou event in Hubei in 2009, Wukan event in Guangdong in 2011, Jincheng event in Yunnan in 2014, Jinchang event in Gansu in 2015 etc... The outbreak of these social conflicts seriously disturbed the social order, brought serious threat to social stability, caused the confusion of the ideological consciousness of the masses. As you can see, China’s ideological and political work is faced with serious situation."Stability overrides all other considerations."In the crucial period of opening up and modernization, maintaining a stable and harmonious society become the important issue in our current society. It is of great significance in the research of the main countermeasure on solving social conflicts through the ideological and political work. It is of practical significance to integrate with all forces, improve the capacity to respond to mass conflicts, maintain social harmony and stability, consolidate the security of the party and state power, protect people’s lives and property safety, promote socio-economic development. In addition, the research achievements on solving social conflicts through the ideological and political work is few at home and abroad. Especially, it is lack of research achievements about the internal relationship between them, the problems and strategy on solving social conflicts through the ideological and political work. Research on solving social conflicts through the ideological and political work has great theoretical significance.Based on the reality of Chinese current social conflict, this paper aims at overcoming social conflicts and maintaining social stability, sunthetically making use of documentation research method, cross-disciplinary research method, questionnaires method, analysis and case method and actual evidence method from the perspective of ideological and political work. Combined with typical cases of social conflict in new age, this paper finds out the characteristics of social conflicts in new age, clarify the inner relationship between ideological and political work, points out the root causes of social conflict and the lack of ideological and political work, analyses the problems of solving social conflicts through the ideological and political work in the new age.
