US-Soviet relations had undergone complicated changes. However, they never resorted to direct force. Balanced strength two superpowers was the root cause of their showing restraint to each other. Besides, the common interests made the two sides choose peace to seek the profit maximization through the cooperation.More cooperations had been made between the U.S. and Soviet in the field of non-traditional security during the Cold War, which improved the relations between the two sides. Cooperations in medicine and environment were of great importance in the filed of non-traditional security, which not only served as the lubricant of US-Soviet relations during the Cold War, but also brought benefits to two peoples. US-Soviet relations had being eased after the death of Stalin. Soviet cried for the U.S. helping them catch up in medical field and the U.S. also needed the help of Soviet in the medical community to conquer disease worldwide problems. The two countries conducted various cooperations in medicine and health, and gained fruitful achievements. In the field of environment, two countries had shared interests since solving the environmental problems was related to international environmental cooperation, thus the coordinate linkage of two countries was the only way to improve their own and even global environment. Therefore, the two sides conducted multiple cooperations in environmental protection and had made brilliant achievements.Against the backdrop of Cold War, there were obvious limitations on the U.S-U.S.S.R. cooperation in the field of non-traditional security, cooperation was still led by the authorities with less public participation. Moreover, ideological differences hindered the cooperation of the two countries to some extent. Among differences and disagreements, however, it had no effect on that cooperation was still the mainstream. In the process of accelerating cooperation, the two countries had established lots of rules, including cooperation mechanism, achievement distribution and consultation of divergence, which provided the experience for U.S.-U.S.S.R. to resolve other political issues.
