With the continuous development of market economy and the progress of society, thenumber of white-collars who contribute a lot to corporations and economy development isexpanding quickly, so a study on the group of white-collars is worthwhile effort. Thephenomenon of Du Lala is popular in workplaces of the white-collars, which has become anew noticeable social trend and arouses interest in academic field. Du Lala is the leadingcharacter of the novel GO Lala GO. Du Lala phenomenon refers to the one in which people ofhigh education but no special background try their best to show one’s talent actively in anormal way and to guide one’s own behavior with game strategy in job markets, and finallyachieve success in their careers. This phenomenon represents a blend of Chinese traditionalculture and modern culture in the transformation period of economic system which is peculiarto China.This paper focuses on the phenomenon of Du Lala with depth interview as the researchmethod, and social exchange theory and bureaucracy theory as the basic theory. It tries toexplore the common points of Du Lala phenomenon with the analysis of several differenttypes of typical white-collars’ behavior in order to prove the point that the success ofwhite-collars’ depends on their own behavior based on game strategy. This research describesthe characteristics of Du Lala phenomenon first, and then discusses the causes of thisphenomenon at both the macroscopic level including factors of culture and economy, and themicroscopic level including factors of companies and individuals.In a word,the society, companies as well as individuals should work together to guideDu Lala phenomenon in the workplaces to develop in a healthy way so as to make thephenomenon work better for the development of the economy, and the building of aharmonious socialist society of great stability.
