The Study Of Social Gender Consciousness And Female Status In Hebei Province

Based on the data of the third survey about the status of women in our country, thisthesis makes a comprehensive analysis on the status quo and changes of women’s genderawareness and the status in Hebei Province. The outcome shows that, compared with the past,the social status of women has been significantly improved both from the aspects of familyand society. However, women still assume more housework in the family and lack the equalopportunities and qualification that men in social participation. Women have got theeconomic independence, but still dependent on men to some extent. The traditional andbackward gender awareness still has been widespread, especially in the rural area. Thetraditional model of family labor division existed as of old, and to reconstruct the model offamily labor division was imminent.This thesis analyzed the current social status of women in Hebei Province with thefirst-hand information of the third survey of Chinese women’s social status and the data of theprevious two surveys as well as other statistical data. The result showed that the status ofwomen had been steadily improved from the family aspect. However, people’s genderawareness was greatly difference because of gender, area and education differences. Theeconomic status of women had been greatly improved from the social aspect. Althoughwomen’s political participation rate had also been growing, it still cannot reach equilibriumcompared with man. Heavy domestic work had involved too much energy of women andimpacted women’s participation in social work.In order to steadily improve the social status of women and build a harmonious society,this thesis provides some suggestions from social, educational, family and individual levelseparately. At the level of government and society, it is necessary to establish a gender-equalsociety operating mechanism. At the education level, it is necessary to advance women’scultural and educational level. At the family level, it is a necessity to establish a diversifiedfamily pattern. At the individual level, women should change the concept of their own andabandon traditional role.
