From a global perspective, the digital era brings economic globalization; the increasing communication among different countries and different culture is arousing people’s attention on ethnic consciousnesses, cultural identity and minority rights. China is a multinational country with56nationalities. As the basis of promoting harmonious in politics, economics, culture and the whole society, education among national minorities has been an important link for national development. During the development of national education, education policy has played an important role. Thus, minority education policy attracted more and more attention from our leaders and scholars.Canada is the first countries to implement multiculturalism in the world. Its multiculturalism policy aims to respect and protect the traditional culture of each ethnic group and to promote equality among various ethnic groups to participate in national social life. Although the policy was impacted by immigrant minorities at first, but it is undeniable that Indian education under its guidance has also been undergoing great changes. Their education and culture began to attract more respect and attention from the government.According to the continuous process of education policy formulation and its implementation, the article’s main structure is divided into five parts:First, the background of the existing Indian education policy in Canada. In this part, we will introduce the overview of national conditions of Canada and describes Indian education policy in different stages in Canada.Second, the connotation of the existing Indian education policy in Canada. This paper will explain this issue respectively from the following aspects, they are the policy origin, the policy objectives and the specific content covered in the policy, such as control power of education, the form of education, safeguards measures of education.Third, case studies of Indian education policy in Ontario, Canada,. It includes the overview of Indian education, its purpose, its principle of formulation, its content as well as its specific measurements under the policy framework.Fourth, analysis on Indian education policy in Canada. This part will carry on a comprehensive analysis based on the analysis framework of education policy’s formulation process, policy contents and its results..Finally, enlightenments and inspirations. Based on the current situation and problems of our minority education policies, this part will summarize some enlightenments from Canadian Indian education policy which are worth of our borrowing.
