Textbook is the tool of the educational reform and it presents the conceptof new curriculum. With the overall implementation of the elementaryeducation curriculum reform, there are lots of changes between the newtextbooks and the old textbooks. For example, the trigonometric functions areone of the content changed greatly. However, how do these changes embodyin the textbook? Do these changes achieve the writing goals of textbook? Canthese changes satisfy the users of the textbook? Not only the using of textbook,but also the textbook compilations make us solve the problems.Based on this, through the literature analysis, the content analysis, thecomparative analysis and the questionnaire survey, we analyze and comparethe trigonometric functions of the old textbook and the new textbook ofPeoples’ Education Press on the seven aspects of the concept and goal,theframe structure, the difficulty of the course, the thinking method, the choice ofmaterials, modes of presentation and information technology. The results showthat in the trigonometric functions, the new mathematics textbook and the oldtextbook streamline the teaching content, emphasize the penetration of thethinking methods, improve the requirements of knowledge application and itsintegration with information technology. Nevertheless, compared with the oldtextbook, the new textbook embodys the fundamental idea of the curriculumstandard, and show its writing features. They are following:1. The new textbook improves the presentation order of the knowledge, which enables students understand and acquire the knowledge better.2. The new textbook strengthens the integration of trigonometric function andplane vector, the algorithm, and also improves the requirements of theapplication of trigonometric functions, which is better for the studentsanalyzing and solving the problem.3. Penetration of the new teaching method is more appropriate. The newtextbook promotes the student to grasp mathematics thinking and methodthrough language table and picture and so on.4. The new textbook emphasizes the analysis and summary of knowledge andimproves students’ ability to explore through the problem chains.5. The new textbook chooses more living and scientific material as thebackground of knowledge and reading material, which strengthens thestudents’ consciousness of applying mathematics.In combination with the relevant analysis of the questionnaire survey, weput forward the following suggestions to revise the new textbook intrigonometric function part based on the compare of the textbook:1. Decrease the difficulty of textbooks. Appropriately increase teaching classes.Balance the difficulty of examples and exercises.2. Add more abundant materials in the textbook, such as mathematics littlestory and so on.3. Increase question types of the examples and reduce the numbers of problemsets in the textbook. 4. The arrangement order of the textbook should be more apt to students’cognitive regularity. For example, the students should learn firstly the additionand subtraction of trigonometric function and then learn the image oftrigonometric functions.5. Improve the situation of knowledge in the textbook. It is recommended touse a more simple and living situation.Improving the situation of knowledge in the textbook is boiled down tobare briefness and closing to the students’life.
