In order to resolve the co-work problems in university, we aim toconstruct the domain-oriented knowledge environment for the universities. In this paper, we put forward the information resource organizationmethods for the domain-oriented knowledge environment, and we buildthe domain-oriented knowledge environment systems platform based onthe open source semantic tools (Vitro), realizing the university researchinformation exchange and sharing. The main research contents andachievements are as follows:First, on the basis of analyzing the goal of the domain-orientedknowledge environment for the universities, then the system platformarchitecture was proposed, and through research and analysis, the mainfunction of the domain-oriented knowledge environment was designed. There are six main modules: system management and maintenance, resource integration and retrieval, research agent management, researchactivity management, research environment management, and researchachievement management. The analysis and design of function modulesfor the domain-oriented knowledge environment provides the basis for thefurther research.Secondly, according to the characteristics of information resources ofthe domain-oriented knowledge environment, a three-tier informationresource organizational methods was proposed, including the data layer, ontology layer and application layer, which was an effective way toorganize and manage the information of the environment. Thenintroducing the design methods and principles of research ontology, combined with the protégétool gives a detailed process of scientificontology implementation. Finally, part of the core function of the domain-oriented knowledgeenvironment system platform was developed, based on the researchontology and the open source semantic system Vitro, which achieve thegoal of research information exchanging and sharing.
