| At present, the focus in the research of language teaching has transferred from theteachers how to teach to learners how to learn. And as the research perspectives areexpanding, the researchers has turned from their focus on the study of learners’ rationalcognition, to the learners’ emotional factors such as motivation, attitude, anxiety and soon. From the research results in the passed two or three decades, we have learned thatanxiety which belongs to emotional factors is an important factor in affecting the foreignlanguage learning achievement (MacIntyre,1994), is the biggest emotional obstacle inforeign language learning (Arnold,2000).The key to solve students’ anxiety in foreignlanguage learning, is to find out the causes of anxiety. Considering that classroom is themain place for students to learn English in China, this paper discusses the classroomenvironment factors’ influence on students’ foreign language anxiety, and puts forwardrelated countermeasures to relieve students’ anxiety in English learning.In order to study the relationship between classroom environment factors and thestudents’ foreign language learning anxiety, and put forward correspondingcountermeasures to improve the classroom environment, this research based on thecooperative learning theory and humanistic learning theory, selected the junior highschool students in Hubei province as the research object, try to answer the followingquestions:1)What’s the relationship between English input anxiety and classroomenvironment factors in seven dimensions (multimedia equipment, seat arrangements,teacher support, students affinity, task orientation, cooperation, class order)? And whatare the main related factors?2) What’s the relationship between processing anxiety and English classroom environment factors in seven dimensions? What are the main relatedfactors?3) What is the relationship between output anxiety and English classroomenvironment in seven dimensions? What are the main related factors?4) What’s therelationship between English input anxiety, English processing anxiety, English outputanxiety and classroom physical environment, social environment, psychologicalenvironment in classroom?5) Generally speaking, which factor influences Englishlearning anxiety?Through the questionnaire data analyzed by SPSS software, the research found: inEnglish class, students’ English processing anxiety was associated with the classroomphysical environment factors and classroom psychological environment factors; Students’English processing anxiety was associated with classroom psychological environmentfactors. In addition, students’ English output anxiety was associated with classroomsocial environment factors.On the basis of the above research, this paper puts forward corresponding strategiesto improve the classroom environment, to relieve students’ anxiety in the process ofEnglish input, processing and output and improve students’ learning efficiency.English language anxiety is a major obstacle in English learning. Teachers shouldpay much attention to the impact of anxiety on learning English, and form a goodclassroom environment atmosphere through taking useful strategies to reduce student’sEnglish learning anxiety, so that we can improve the English teaching quality andstudents’ learning ability. |
