In the21st century,we have witnessed the influence of computer technology andcommunication technology,and they have brought unprecedented change to our studyand life.This means to us in new era,it is necessary to have a good informationliteracy and cultivate the ability of applying what we have learned in life whenlearning scientific knowledge.As a teacher,it is essential to update teaching ideas soas to improve students’ information literacy,cooperation spirit and exploringability.WebQuest is just produced in this context, it provides new ideas for traditionalteaching.WebQuest is a web-based teaching mode to cultivate students’inquiry ability andinformation literacy,teachers are supposed to choose suitable WebQuest theme, andcreate actual problem situation,provide teaching resources from authoritative websitesfor students, letting students begin inquiry-based learning activities online.It is one ofthe teaching methods of applying modern educational technology inclassroom.Because of its modular teaching design,it has being used by manyeducational workers.In this paper,the author uses literature research method,questionnaire surveymethod, experimental method,SPSS statistical analysis method and interviewmethod.And uses“WebQuest”and“junior high school English teaching” as majorclues.The author consult and summarize the research situation from home andoverseas,and reanalyze teaching situation of WebQuest in junior high school English.And expounds the teaching theories of applying WebQuest in junior high schoolEnglish.According to the present situation of junior high school English teaching,theauthor selects experimental school, does the needs analysis before beginning teachingexperiment and makes instructional design and begins the teaching experiment ofapplying WebQuest in junior high school English teaching.All above last for onemonth.By doing questionnaire survey,statistical analysis and interview,the author hasanalyzed the teaching effectiveness of WebQuest.At last,some improving measures are put forward on the problems encountered in the application of WebQuest.
